Introducing peakd.blog, your own customizable corner of Hive
A while back, I shared [a sneak peek at a project I was working on](https://peakd.com/hive-139531/@asgarth/a-sneak-peek-at-a-new-project-coming-soon). There were screenshots, quite a few themes, and a conveniently vague “coming soon.”
Well, it finally has a link I can share. PeakD Blog is live at **[peakd.blog](https://peakd.blog).**
The idea is simple: give your Hive writing a home that feels like your own website. Your posts, your profile, your style, and an address you can put on a business card, share with a friend, or add to your social profiles.
## Your writing, with a place of its own
If you already publish on PeakD, you already have the content to get started.

PeakD Blog brings your existing Hive posts together in a dedicated blog, with an archive, individual article pages, and About and Contact pages based on your Hive profile.
You keep publishing through PeakD, and your posts appear on your blog. The content stays on Hive, and your blog settings are saved in your account metadata.
Once you've claimed your blog, anyone can open it and read your articles without signing in or having a Hive account. That makes it an easy link to share with people who are interested in your writing and might be discovering Hive for the first time.
PeakD remains the place to write, discover communities, and take part in the wider Hive experience. Your blog gives people a place to spend time with your work.
## Pick a look that feels like you
If you read the preview, you might remember that I got a little carried away with the themes. That hasn't really changed.
There are clean personal blogs, photography-focused designs, bold typography, field notebooks, retro pixels, and terminal-inspired layouts. The themes have their own character, including how they handle navigation, archives, and article pages.
**Default, Minimalist, Brutalist, and Aperture are available to everyone**, with more designs choices available through [PeakD Horizon](https://peakd.com/@peakd/subscriptions).
Depending on the theme, you can choose top or side navigation, list or grid views, content width, light or dark mode, and accent colors. You can also change your blog's name and description, preview your choices, and save them through your wallet.
I wanted this part to be fun: try a few things, find something you like, and get back to writing.
## A few useful details
Alongside the design choices, there are some practical features to help people enjoy and follow your work:
- **Topic browsing:** enable a topic bar so readers can find more posts about the subjects they like.
- **RSS:** readers can follow your blog in their preferred feed reader.
- **Sharing:** article pages include sharing options and previews for links shared elsewhere.
- **Mobile layouts:** your blog adapts to phones, tablets, and larger screens.
- **Interface languages:** optional localization lets readers use the navigation and interface in their preferred supported language. Your articles stay in the language you wrote them in.
And the Hive connection is still there. Readers with a Hive account can connect a supported wallet, choose their vote weight, comment, and reply directly on the blog. Those interactions happen on Hive, with signing handled by the wallet.
## A little more room with Horizon
You can get started for free. The free blog shows posts published through PeakD and includes the four free themes mentioned above.
An active **[PeakD Horizon subscription](https://peakd.com/@peakd/subscriptions) for the blog owner** adds:
- **Posts from other Hive publishing apps**, so your blog can bring together writing published across Hive.
- **Premium themes**, for more ways to make the site your own.
- **Up to three posts pinned in your navigation**, useful for a “Start here” guide, a project introduction, or information you want visitors to find easily.
- **A portfolio gallery**, displaying images from posts you've marked “Show in Portfolio” on PeakD, with topic filters and a full-screen image viewer.
If you already have Horizon on the account that owns your blog, those extras are available to that blog. Readers don't need Horizon to visit it.
## More than a place for the latest post
This is the part I'm looking forward to seeing people use.
A travel writer could turn years of posts into a journal worth exploring. A photographer or artist could pair their stories with a portfolio. Someone building a project could pin an introduction and keep publishing updates under one address.
There is also a **Products page for accounts with their Hive shop enabled**, bringing existing product and subscription listings into the blog. That gives people another way to discover what you offer alongside your writing.
You may already have a lot of useful work on Hive. A dedicated blog gives you another way to put it in front of people, including people outside our usual circles.
## Give it a try
Getting started is straightforward:
1. Visit **[peakd.blog](https://peakd.blog)** and enter your Hive username.
2. Connect the wallet for that account to open your owner preview.
3. Open **Customize blog**, try the available settings, and preview the result.
4. Choose **Claim & Save** and approve the operation in your wallet.
5. Share **`yourname.peakd.blog`** and keep publishing through PeakD.
Until you claim it, the blog preview is only accessible to you as the owner. Claiming makes the blog public; your existing Hive posts remain public on Hive throughout.
If you're new to Hive, you can [create an account](https://signup.hive.io/) first and start from there.
I'm happy to finally get this into people's hands. If you set up a blog, drop your link in the comments — I'd love to see which themes you choose and what you do with it.
Feedback, suggestions, and the inevitable “this looks a bit strange on my phone” reports are welcome here or [on Discord](https://discord.gg/uPxmXjX).
